CLASS DETAILS
OSTRICH FEATHER FAN DANCING:
Whether you're new to the world of fan dancing or an experienced showgirl whose fans are gathering dust, this class will instill in you the confidence and knowledge you need to fan dance fantastically onstage.
We'll start the class by revisiting basic fan handling techniques, from finding a comfortable grip to moving your fans around your body with grace and ease. We'll explore different types of fan movement and learn framing poses that help you use fans to showcase your performance.
We'll also address a performer's practical concerns: how to choreograph a fan dance that sparkles instead of snoozes, how to utilize fans in floorwork, and how to get your clothes off while your hands are full!
Bring your fans, and your questions! A limited amount of fans will be available for students to borrow, so please contact Jezebel (through the contact form on this website, please) if you need some.
SLOW BURN BURLESQUE:
Does the thought of moving slowly onstage or even (shudder!) staying completely still sent you into a full-blown showpony existential crisis? Join Jezebel Express to explore the pleasures of slowing it down. Jezebel is a notoriously quick shimmy-shaker who didn’t even attempt a slow burn routine for years because slow movement made her feel like an awkward turtle who was trying unsuccessfully to be seductive. Is this you? Great news: Jez got over it, and so can you.
In this class, we will talk about the functions slowness and stillness can serve in live performance. Jezebel will offer some strategies for creating and practicing slow movement, and we will discuss how to create slow burn choreography that intrigues audiences and holds their attention. We will do some light physical movement to explore which slow burn aspects resonate most with us, and dance a short slow & sexy combo at the end of class so students have something to go home and practice with. This is an all-levels class, and anyone who is interested in learning a new appreciation for slow & sexy movement is welcome.
